Chaffey College Transfer Julian Ramirez Signs with Blue Hawks
December-21-08

Dickinson State University Head Baseball Coach Duane Monlux would like to announce the signing of Chaffey College standout Julian Ramirez to a letter of intent for the upcoming 2009 season. Ramirez is a left-handed pitcher. He had a solid sophomore campaign for Chaffey, tossing 33.2 innings in 14 games. He started two games on the mound and registered an ERA of 2.67 with 30 K’s and only eight walks allowed. Teams hit just .224 off Ramirez. He only gave up four extra base hits in 33.2 innings of work.

“We are very excited to be bringing in a left handed pitcher of Julian’s caliber at the break,” says Monlux. “We expect him to come in and contribute to the team right away. He pitched a lot of innings for a very good Chaffey College team that went 30-9 during the 2008 season.”

He finished the 2008 season with a .370 batting average with 12 homers, 11 doubles, and a DSU single season record 74 RBI. He also had a slugging percent of .636 and an on base average of .447.
